Re: Making A List Dependant on A list

Thank you for your reply. Ive got it working but there a a few issues. Firstly it wouldnt let me name my columns using numbers so I have had to write them and secondly because each diameter had a different number of allowed thickness so blank spaces have been included in the drop down list. Is there a way to get round these things?

At this point, please provide a new version of your workbook showing where you have got to so far.

In the Name Manager, adjust the ranges used for each list to limit them to just the entries available.

For example, the range for Fifty should be: =Sheet1!$H$3:$H$5

Thank you, ive sorted out the ranges and removed the blank cells. Is here a way of making the names in the first box numbers? I tried changing it on the name manager but that didnt work.

    Yes, there is.

Change the validation list in D12 to this:

    =$A$3:$A$8

and the one in E12 to this:

    =INDIRECT(INDEX($C$2:$H$2,,MATCH(D12,$A$3:$A$8,0)))

Re: Making A List Dependant on A list

    Yup!

Of course, it relies on the layout you have. Should that change, you will need to amend the ranges in the INDEX MATCH function, as they will not automatically change.

If that takes care of your original question, please select Thread Tools from the menu link above and mark this thread as SOLVED. Thanks.
