I need to enter data on several sheets from a dashboard

    Good evening all

I have attached a sample "Book1" file for a project for the local Horse Endurance ride club.

At this stage I ONLY request if PQ can handle some functions.

The Book1.xlsm has 4 sheets, the "Front" sheet handles all the input data,

The "Open" sheet holds all the data for the riders doing the 80km ride.

The "Training " sheet holds the data for those only attempting the 40km ride

The "Ride Reference" Start and finish time for the 2 Ride categories, the locations for the checkpoints,

The "Data" Holds some data to be used on the front sheet .

What I envisage is in the "Rider No" box the riders number is entered, now
the 2 types of riders are "Open" and "Training", the Open riders are numbered
    from 1 to 100, the 2nd type are from 156 to 200.

The second entry box is for which ride they are doing, this will govern when the rider number is entered,
( say between 1 & 100 ) it will select 80k and all times etc entered, will be tfd to the "Open" sheet respective
cell, and likewise for the 40km riders (156 to 200) "Training" sheet. IT IS NOT available atm due to file size.

So at this stage what I would like to know if I venture down the PQ path or VBA.

One I have learnt over the last few months, " You are NEVER too old to learn ".
Sometimes I forget to say " Thank You " for your assistance, so here I say " A BIG Thank You. "

Re: Do I use Power Query or VBA to complete this project.

Peter - try again, please. You need to refer to the specific action(s) you are hoping to carry out. Your title is still far too generic.

"Is it better to use PQ or VBA to do X, Y and Z?"

Can I use what you have entered here.

To be quite frank I am too nervous about coming back here in case I cross path's will those I have done wrong by.

Oh, for goodness' sake, Peter - we are all adults here. Every new day is a new day. You of all people should know that by now - you have been lavished help, and only ever focus on the few negatives there have been. That makes it VERY frustrating working with you. I am not going to handle you with kid gloves - sorry. I will treat you in exactly the same way as I treat everybody here, as should everybody else.

I am still not happy with your thread title, but will accept it for now and have a look at your workbook.

I've looked at the workbook. You seem to be a fair way into this already, so it's not really clear what we need to focus on.

What EXACTLY are you considering using PQ to handle - be specific, please (I know you find that hard, but just try to answer the question succinctly and precisely).

    Good Morning Ali

Overnight I have had a rethink about this project and am taking a different tack, with your permission
I will edit my first post and paste in the new attachment, also I expect to have a flow chart of expected
events and outcomes, this most likely will not go up until tomorrow or Saturday.

No - do NOT edit anything. Simply add a new post here in this thread with new information and a fresh attachment.

    Hi Ali

Just arrived back home with my Wife from the airport,
Our Daughter took her away for a break from me they went down to our Snowy Mountains,
I think you would like that area lush green in the off snow season pleasant temps.

Re my Post, I thought that may be the option that is why I asked first.

LOL! I have often resisted saying that I have sympathy your wife, but as you've mentioned it yourself ... I have sympathy with your wife!!!

It's the Gold Coast I'm drawn to - Oz is definitely on the bucket list for our retirement.

    When you're ready, Pete.
