    Excel/Sharepint - Links breaking

    Hello,

We have recently upgraded our server to Microsoft share-point.

I have two spreadsheets which are on our share point drive.

Spreadsheet A....pulls live data/information through links from Spreadsheet B.

Every time I open Spreadhseet A, the links break. Despite re-linking numeroous times and saving, eveytime I open Spreadhseet A, the links break and knock out all my formulas. The file location and cells have not been changed in both spreadsheets.

This has only happened since we introduced share point. Is there a way to overcome this?

    Regards,

    Mitch

Not the same query as yours, but pertinent to it - have a look at the last post to this thread from this morning: https://www.excelforum.com/excel-pro...vba-excel.html

The thing about your SharePoint links is that they need to be fixed. Are you working online or are you working from your OneDrive on your machine?

    Thanks Ali

My files are staying in the same place on the SharePoint.

I am working from my One Drive on my machine. I have tried working through Sharepoint online but this still does not link.

    Yes I did.

The location of the files for all users always remains the same, so the link path will always remain the same, but I still get link breakages.

That's the problem, I believe. You need to use the network name of the drive, which (taken from that other thread) will look something like this: \\GPBWFCD0QP\

So you are saying the file needs to be moved from the sub folder to the main folder? My only concern is that with share point, we have numerous people access this spreadsheet in the shared folder to update the relevant data.

No, I am not saying that at all. I am saying that you need to use the network path, not the URL. If you aren't sure, ask your IT guys what that will be.

    Re: Excel/Sharepint - Links breaking

Here's a link to one of my files on SharePoint:

    https: // xxx.sharepoint.com/sites/MFLStaff/Shared%20Documents/05%20Timetable/Departmental%20Timetable%202015-16.xlsx?web=1

    Here's your loink:

    =COUNTIFS('https://xxx.sharepoint.com/Customer Service/Customer Services/[Customer Complaints Tracker 2019.xlsx]April 2019'!$E$5:$E$134,A2)

Notice in mine there is all the HTML (%20 replacing spaces and the ?web=1 at the end) - you can generate a link like this through the Share option in Excel.

PS I've added a space either side of the // just so that it doesn't show here as a clickable link.
