How to remove tie in the excel rankings from weightage average scores

    Hello Excel Experts,

I'm using MSFT 2013. It's a simple problem but I'm unable to fix it, though I consider myself an intermediate excel professional.

    The Background:

    1. I've got the weighted average scores from the scoring (Column L).
    2. Based on the weighted average scores, I've done the rankings (Column M).
    3. There is a tie in the rankings (# 1) because the scoring is same.

    The Problem:

    1. I want to remove the tie from the final rankings, so that I get all the ranking like 1,2,3,4,5 etc.

    Please help.

I've attached the excel sheet for your information and ready reference.

RANK.EQ function might help, unless you have another method of deciding hierarchy?

I'm unable to solve my problem using your logic. May be I've not understood it correctly.

Can you please solve it in the attached problem sheet?

This solved the problem partially but if you noticed if you notice I'm still getting the same rank # 1 in row 12 & 16 of column M.

See attached excel sheet and image.

I really don't know how to decide on the ranking ties and eventually solve this problem. That's why I'm here in this forum.

If you can solve the row 12 and 16 rank # 1 issue that would be great.

You need to decide what factor will ultimately decide who is assigned the higher spot. Where values are equal even using Rank.EQ you will need to choose how you are going to rank them in the event of a tie
