SUMIF not calculating to required range

Not sure where I'm going wrong but perhaps someone could please educate me (already tried all other avenues first) and it is frustrating me.
Column A (rows 1 to 15) has values of either "WSH", "COL" or "IPS", whereas my range in D1 to I15 contains numeric (decimal) values. I want to add all values in a row where criteria in Column A meets "WSH", so I applied the formula in cell A17 as: =Sumif(A1:A15,"WSH",D1:I15). It seems to work but only applies the function in range D1 to D15 (totally omitting C1 to I15). See attached example, I use MS-Excel 2016. I welcome your helpful advice (feel foolish posting this).
