Post Excel Conditional Formatting Issue

    Dear All,

My query may be very basic one, but I really cannot figure out why this is happening. The problem is, I am applying a conditional formatting rule "Greater than" to a complete column. There is a Header named "Quantity" and then all are numeric values beneath it. My rule is to Highlight all values greater than 100 in this column. It works fine, but, it highlights the Header "Quantity" as well. I changed the Header cell format to Text, still it does the same.

If I use a Less than conditional formatting rule, it does not highlight the Header text. Does it mean that its reading the Header text as a number and then highlighting it. I even tried putting a numeric value in the rule i.e. Greater than 100000000. Still it highlights the Header text.

Can anyone please explain whether I am doing a mistake or if this is a bug in excel. I am using excel for Microsoft Office 365.

    Thanks and Regards,
    Nikhil Deshpande

Yes it does, excel sees all text as being greater than any numeric value.

Simple answer to this - exclude the heading from the range. Are you, by any chance, using full-column references here? If so, dont - rather, use the range you need.
    1. Use code tags for VBA.
Your Code
(or use the # button)
