Issue pasting values from cells in one sheet to another

When copying cells from one sheet in a workbook to another sheet in the same workbook I am getting the attached error message. It still will paste the contents of the cell but once it does if I try to highlight other cells they don't show up as highlighted or selected.

The cells are being selected as I can change fill color and it will apply to the cells that are selected I'm just not able to tell which cells are actually selected. While this is happening some of the features in the toolbar become grayed out and unusable as well. If I allow a few minutes or more to pass it will start functioning normally again.

Any suggestions on what may be causing this strange behavior would be appreciated.

Error just happened as I was checking for a response on this. I turned off the live preview option as you suggested and it started working normally again right away. It usually took about 20 mins to start working normally again it seems this fixed it.
