Need help with filtering connected workbook

We’ve got a shared workbook that we were not the creators of that isn’t filtering as it should. We need some help.

We have two similar files, SOlog and SOlog-2. SOlog-2 is the version we’re currently using, and the one that has the issue. SOlog-2 has all of the data from SOlog, plus a bunch of additional data that has been added over the last couple of years.

When using the filter function, we’re not able to filter all the data on SOlog-2. Specifically, we can only the data that was carried over from SOlog. When using the filter function, any data from SOlog is filtered at the top of the sheet, and all additional data on SOlog-2 is listed unfiltered below the filtered data.

Since we didn’t create the workbook, we’re not sure what was done (and whoever did is either no longer with the company or doesn’t remember).

We’ve checked “Queries and Connections” and “Properties” under the “Data” tab. It lists SOlog in the connections for SOlog2. Would that have something to do with it?

We’d really like to be able to filter the entire workbook. Any suggestions would be appreciated.

Switch off Autofilter. Select ALL the data including the additional rows. Switch on Autofilter.

You may have to unshare the workbook first and share it again afterwards.

We've tried selecting all the data and switching off autofilter, but we lose the option to do anything with the filter when all of the data (or any part of the new data) is selected.

Did you try unsparing and resharing the workbook?

There are severe limitations on what you can do with shared workbooks.
