I have a file as attached where I want to have a vlookup function that lookups the row and column in Sheet2 and matches it against the Date and ID column in Sheet1 to return the number in the value column. I tried the solution from another but doesnt really help in my case. This is just a sample file and the original file has hundreds of rows so it is not possible for me to just copy and paste transpose also because the begin date for each ID defers so I have to use the lookup instead. thanks.

Try this in cell B2 of Sheet2:
=SUMIFS(Sheet1!$C:$C,Sheet1!$B:$B,B$1,Sheet1!$A:$A,$A2)
Then copy across and down as required.
