9-Box Grid - Plotting Multiple Employees

I am trying to create a 9-box grid that will plot multiple employees but am having difficulties as I am not an Excel whiz. We generally want to use this for leaders to plot their managers, using a rating scale of 1-3 for both the performance and potential ratings. Ideally, the leader will rate each employees potential (1-3 scale), and performance (1-3 scale), then the employee will be plotted onto the 9-box, in a box not on the axis lines. Attached is a sample of what I am trying to create. Please help!!

You need a X-Y chart for this and a macro to attach the names.

I changed the Axes value a little bit

And also the performance and potential values are changed and they are behind the chart.

Re: 9-Box Grid - Plotting Multiple Employees

Thank you so much for your help! A few questions.

If I edit the employee name, how do I get that to update on the grid? If I change the name from Employee 1 to Sam, it remains Employee 1.

How do I put a minimum (1) and maximum (3) limit on the numbers being entered into the performance and potential boxes?

I would also need to factor in the ability to add additional team members to the list, in case there are more than 7. When I insert a row, it doesn't populate additional data onto the chart.

Use the update button to change the names

Data validation prevent input other than 1, 2 or 3

Range C22:M28 is a real table.
Input a value in C29 and the table (and chart) gets automatic bigger

Wow - this is great, you are very helpful. I did notice once glitch. If I add 10 employees, and are all ranked in the same potential and performance categories. There is a limit (5) number of names allowed in each box. See attached. Is there a way to fix this?

In the attachment you'll see only the first 5 are captured on the grid. The other 5 have disappeared.

Also, is there a way to save this as a plain Excel file rather than a macro enabled Excel file? When this is sent out to users, I feel there may be some confusion there - we are dealing with a beginner population.

You can save the file without the macro but then you cannot change the names in the chart.
    And you cannot add names.
