    Sequential dates

    Hi,

I hope I am posting this in the correct forum, and apologist if I haven't. I've searched for this particular problem on the forums but couldn't find an answer.

I am using Excel 2007 and want to produce a column of the dates in a given month (ie first to last). I have followed videos on the internet which say to insert the first date, then drag down and autofill will do the rest, but it doesn't change the day or the month - only the year.

If anyone could suggest what I am doing wrong, I would be very grateful.

    Cheers.

If the cells are formatted as text it will only change the year. If they are formatted as date it should change the day instead.

The dates are formatted as 'date', not text.

Must be something with 2007 it works in The latest version of Excel. I tried it. Hope you figure it out.

    @ cartoonist

I'd have to see this in context. What you describe should work. There must be some "hidden" issue. This would best be resolved with a sample of misbehaving Excel file .... please not screen shots or pics. If you are not familiar with how to do this:

(Of note: The 'paperclip' icon has not worked for some time. So please save yourself some grief.)
To attach a file to your post: (Please no pics or screenshots ... saves retyping data.),

be sure to desensitize the data
    • click “Go Advanced” (next to Post Quick Reply – bottom right),
    • scroll down until you see “Manage Attachments”, click that,
    • click “Browse”.
    • select your file(s)
    • click “Upload”
    • click “Close window”
    • click “Submit Reply”
The file name will appear at the bottom of your reply.

Thanks for that Dave - I hope I've attached it correctly.

    Re: Sequential dates

Enter your dates with / as separator not . Then it's fine. so 1/9/2019 and drag down.
