Sorting data that is a mix of cell formatting

I have spreadsheets that I sort on a certain column but the range is a mix of not only data but cell formatting such as fill colours & cell borders.
Now while the cells with fill colours all goes well & the majority of cells have basic borders but some have larger colour borders and these borders do not move with the specific cells that they are around.
Is there a method of having such defined borders move with cells upon data sort?

Short answer, I would say no. You are applying formatting to the cell, so the formatting stays with the cell, but the cell contents move when you sort them.

If there is some logic to why the extra formatting is applied, we may be able to come up with some Conditional Formatting to help you?
1. Use code tags for VBA.
Your Code
(or use the # button)

Thank you.

The specific formatting is to highlight to users of the spreadsheet certain data & notes. It is interesting that fill info, a colour, moves with the cell data though.

Can you upload a small (clean) sample workbook (not a pic) of what you are working with, and what your expected outcome would look like.

OK, when I know how to attach a file & it gets done. so re-sort it using column A and see the cell K11 border does not follow the cell data

Can you see the attached? is this how you want it done? It is conditional formatting.

I couldnt do the thick red border, but if it is for visual purposes only maybe the same white font over a red background would do.

Thank you, that is what I read elsewhere about conditional formatting - yes for visual purposes only so i will do a different fill colour & font.
