    Comparing two tables

    Hello,
I have been tasked with trying to compare two tables from two different sources. On the attached, I need to compare the values in columns A,B, and C to the values in E.
For example, if you look at David Accomazzo you will see in the first source he is the Sales Manager and has 6 direct reports. In the 2nd source, he is listed as a sales manager (because his name is in bold) and he has 6 direct reports. I need to come up with a way to quickly compare to make sure the sales people listed under Dave in Source 1 are the Same in Source 2. Let me know if you have any questions.

    Thanks!
    Andrew

    Re: Comparing two tables

I uploaded each table to Power Query which is available to you as you are running 2010.

Attached is the file which includes the query codes (Mcode) for each table to put it in a normalized manner. I then ran two merges. One in each direction.

    Hi Alan,
    This looks great!
How can I identify the salespeople that are listed in table 1 but not in table 2 and vice versa? Please forgive me if this is a dumb question - I'm very new to Excel. Thanks!

    Re: Comparing two tables

In your example their are no missing people. If you look at the number of rows in sheets 2 and sheets 3, you will see that the number is the same. Using the merge tables with a left join it will show items from the first and blanks from the second if there is missing items from the second. A right join will do the opposite. I did both and the numbers came out the same. No differences. Did you look at the actual queries.
