    Prevent users from saving changes on my worksheet

    Hi,

    Is there a way where i can share my workbook on a shared drive with other users but prevent them from making changes to it and saving it. I want them to edit, sort, delete etc. but once they close the workbook they should not be able to save these changes. Thanks

    Open visual basic

    Open the ThisWorkbook Macro Module

    Paste this code into the module and close it.

    Thanks for your response. I inserted the code into the macro of the workbook but when I make changes and click save its giving me an option to bypass it and save the workbook as a macro free book. Attached is a screen shot of what I am seeing.

    Go to 'Save As' then click the 'Tools' button then the 'General Options' button.
    You will get an option to enter a password to open and/or a password to modify.
    Enter a password to modify and anyone who doesn't have this password will only be able to open the file as read-only. This will allow them to edit/delete/sort etc but not to save the file.
    Note that this doesn't stop users saving a copy of the file with the changes.

    (The instructions above are valid for Excel 2010 but I think they work for 2016 as well.)
