Add arrows whenvalue of cell changes

Hey guys, not sure this is the right sub-forum but hope so. I have a spreadsheet about my pool team and one of the collumns is the percentage of the games each of us has won. What I would like to do (just for one cell, for example my percentage of games i won in total) is when that value goes up a green arrow would appear, when the values goes down a red arrow would appear and if it stays the same a yellow sideways arrow would appear. Is there a way I can do that?

When we have a new game the number of games palyed and victories change so the percentages changes too, i would like to add arrow depending on the change of the percentage

Not sure if i made myself clear but for example if with the next games my percentage went to 70% a red arrow would appear (since the value before was 75%). And i would like the arrow to appear next to the percentage in a new cell, not sure if this i spossible

Select the cells containing the %s. Conditional formatting/iconsets & choose the top arrow one.

Thanks for the reply and the help, but that's not really what i want. Take that excel you send me and in cell A2 change the value to 17, the percentage will go down right? so what i wanted was since that value went down a red arrow pointing bottom would show.

Well... yes and no. In the case of the FIRST row with data, what arrow direction do you want, Up, down or across, as there is no way of predicting what a non-existent value will be!!

Imagine in the next week player 1 does 4 more games and wins all of the games, the percentage of victories will go way up so the arrow should go up. But for example player 2 does 4 games aswell but doenst win any game the percentage goes down so the arrow should go down

So, on Post 8.... you reveal a very important factor... you are NOT comparing one row with the next!!! There are different players and it is the rows belonging to EACH player that you want to compare.

Yes each row refers to a single player, but i dont want to compare them with each other. Each week we have a game and what i want is to compare for each player the % of victories for each week. so if that percentage goes up a green arrow would appear and if it goes down a red one would appear. I think i suck at explaining what i want lol

you have various row for player 1, 2 and 3 for example. i want just one row for each one like the first sheet i send

Finally, I understand. It cannot be done without VBA, as Excel cannot "remember" the value that USED to be in the cell.

1. Close this thread.

2. Prepare a new sheet, without any of my stuff in it - as it's all wrong!!

3. Post it in the VBA section along with a new clear description. Maybe something like this???


As each player plays more games, i want excel to compare the Current winning % with the previous winning percentage for each player, individually. So, for example:

Player X has played 9 games and has won 3. Current win % =33.3%. He player another game and wins it. Now the win % is 40%. I want an upward pointing arrow to show that the win % has increased, side pointing for no change and downward for a decrease in the win %.

Hi Beatriz

First of all, if a Player plays a game each week, then their win percentage will either increase (if they win their last game), or their win percentage will decrease (if the lose their game, or even 'draw' their game). Their win percentage can never be the same as it was the previous week. Unless they didn't play a game that week...

If you kept the weekly record of each Player on say, a separate worksheet, then you don't need any vba.
You can get the results you want, as per your 'summary' example sheet, just by using Excel formulas.

If you can clarify whether the results of a game might include 'Draw", i.e. no Win and no Loss, or whether a game always has a winner, and whether Players might 'skip' a week etc etc etc, then I could post an example file which matches your results, using formulas as per my suggestion.
