Cell stays in focus after I hit tab/enter

    Hi all,
I recently bought a new laptop and I noticed in Excel that a cell stays in focus after I try to leave it with Tab/Enter (only when I typed a value or formula in that cell, not when I just move over it).
If for example I hit Tab to move to the next cell (which doesn't happen) and I hit Tab again Excel suddenly jumps forward two cells, so it did notice the first Tab.
Same goes for Enter. It's also not just hitting the same button twice that makes it move again, but also when I navigate around with the arrow keys or (Shift+)Tab or (Shift+)Enter.
I know that my new laptop is slower than my previous one, but if I don't do anything the cell seems to stay in focus for an indefinite amount of time, so to me it doesn't seem like a speed issue.
Does anyone recognize this issue and does anyone have an idea for a solution for this?
Do I have something set wrong in my settings?
    Thanks in advance!

Does it happen even if you open a new workbook or is it specific to a certain Excel file?

It's not specific to just one Excel file, but it only happens in my bigger files (over 100kB).
Come to think of it: these are also my only files with a lot of conditional formatting and references to different sheets.
Could that slow down the file drastically?

I guess, but it's still weird. 100 kb is not big at all.
I'm working with 16 MB files and on a rather slow laptop but I am not having such problems. Sure it hangs a bit sometimes, but not in the way you described.

    Could you attach a file?
Replace any confidential information but in such a way that the attached file still hangs for you.

To attach a file click on Advanced at the bottom right, next to Post Quick Reply, then scroll down for Manage Attachments.

That's exactly what I found weird myself. The complete file is 160kB, which I wouldn't think is anything out of the ordinary.
I cut out some parts, so now it's only 100kB, but the issue still remains.

The file itself is a way for me to keep track of my victories in a cycling game.
On the first tab I fill in the results and on the rest of the tabs I create an overview of the victories in total, per month, per level etc.
On those tabs I highlight the top 3 of each row and in the top row I mark some names red.

Re: Cell stays in focus after I hit tab/enter

In my case no freezes occurring.

However, for all your =SUM(INDIRECT("R2K"&COLUMN()&":R"&ROW()-2&"K"&COLUMN();0)) I get #REF error but I figure it's because of the R1C1 style, so if I replaced K with C all formulas are now ok.

I'm assuming you have Excel installed in Dutch and that's why in your formulas is K instead of C for R1C1.

I get a little lag now that all formulas are working, but only if I click F2 in a cell with a formula and hit enter.

Okay, so then maybe my new laptop is just not as fast as I hoped it would be.
    Thanks for looking into this!

It's true that on this PC I have 8-core processor and 16 GB DDR3.

    You are welcome.
