RE-OPENED - Split margins to reach overall margin goal

    Hi there,

This is slightly difficult to explain, but I hope it will make sense.

I would like to create sales prices which are based on cost and margins. My sales price consist of
    • Product
    • Print
    • Set-up

and I would like to be able to decide which of the three contribute with more margin than the other, e.g. to be able to have lower product prices but higher print prices. Altogether though they need to always meet the overall margin goal.

I have uploaded a sample sheet here with all information needed to hopefully help me further.

Let me know if you have any questions.

    Thanks in advance.

    Hi again,

Since no one have answered, I worry that it is because I haven't been able to explain properly.

Can you let me know if something is unclear or if you simply think it is not possible?

    Thanks in advance.

Well.. I have just looked at your sheet and don't understand it!!

What do you expect to see and where do you expect to see it? Try explaining again - with different words. You know what you're looking at. We don't.

    Does this explain it better?

What I try to accomplish is total control of the total margin I take. When setting individual margins per sub cost, I never really know the total margin end up.

Re: [RE-OPENED] Split margins to reach overall margin goal

I have stumbled on a new challenge for this sheet.

I need to be able to calculate margins where the set-up fee has a fixed margin - meaning that the sheet need to calculate margins on what is left for product and print. I think I was close to the solution, but I am at a point where I don't know how to get it just right.

I have left a few comments in the sheet where I highlight where I think things go wrong. There's also a different sheet with Glenn's original solution just set up in a different way. That sheet is working as it should.

Is there any possibility of transforming this back to the idiot's version that you used in Post 4? I am that idiot and this looks utterly bewildering!!!!
