Question Print Full Black Background Regardless of Print Area

    Hi,

I'm trying to print a black background for the entire excel sheet, regardless of what portion of the sheet is selected as the print area.

I've set the full sheet's background to black but when I go to print it anything that is not in the print area is still white.
I tried to make the print area exactly one 8.5 x 11 page so that every inch would be black but I'm always getting white areas (even with the margins all at 0). I tried trail-by-error by constantly adjusting the cells to be a little taller and then checking the print preview but I can't seem to get it quite right (and there are persistent left and right margins, even though I have them set to 0).

Is there a way to force the page to print with a black background regardless of the size or shape of the print area?
Or is there a way to define the print area as exactly one 8.5 x 11 page?

    Here's a screenshot:

Re: Print Full Black Background Regardless of Print Area

All printers have a range where they cannot print because of the paperfeed-tracks so it is impossible to print full black pages. even if you pick a larger paper size then inserted a margin it is technically impossible to print closer then approx 1 cm (half inch) from
Only way to print full black is start with black paper, then again.. most printers do not print white text.. so you may need to print light grey to get white like effect or find a printer that does print white ink.
(dont forget to remove black background in the excel sheet or you be wasting a lot of black in on black paper)

Ok, thank you. I should have been more clear -- I'm looking to "print" to PDF. I guess there's a gap even when it's "printed" to PDF?

Ah, ok printing to PDF makes more sense..

If I remember correctly, the Excel programm also uses minimum of 1/4 inch for margins.. even when you set to zero.

What you can do is have the excel sheet in normal formatting black text on white / no background.
Adobe PDF reader has the option to invert colors of a sheet thru preferences > accessiblity.
    see also.

it might be a two step process then where you export to pdf, than change to invered coloris in PDF reader and print/save that version for distribution.

You might also have a look at using a different layout template for PDF merge where the PDF background is black in the template. I'm not sure how to do that but that is also to far outside the Excel focus of this forum. I think you should google for letterhead PDF to find possibiliies for that..
