    Using Values Input from Barcode # Scanner to Adjust a Basic Inventory Master List?

    I have attached a sample basic master inventory list of products which are in our warehouse. What I want to accomplish is, with a basic barcode scanner, have quantities be removed from our attached master list (one scan, one unit removal ideally) when we scan our items that we ship out every morning.

    If you are unfamiliar with how a barcode scanner inputs the barcode #s into an Excel spreadsheet, you can see a quick 15 second example at 1:15 in a YouTube video called "How to Track Inventory in Excel with a Barcode Scanner" by POSCatch (I am unable to post links here due to my newness). The number that is generated from the barcode scan is the same number in the "BARCODE #" column in the attached sample master inventory list.

    The items don't actually have to be removed AS we scan, they can certainly be removed after we finish scanning the entire batch of say 50 items each morning, but the main goal here is to have a current and updated master inventory reference. I'm sure a VLOOKUP would be involved in this process, but I'm not really sure how to set something like that up with having to enter new scans daily in regards to not overwriting the numbers from the previous scan qty adjustment, etc.

    If I can clarify anything at all here, I'll be actively monitoring the thread. Thank you so much in advance!

    Hi,

    I made some adjustments to your excel you posted

    Added a user interface for the barcode scanning and added functionality to how many to subtract or add in the master data

    I hope it helps.

    Grtz

    Please be as complete as possible in your asking so it may save use all the time to rework the solution because you didn't give all the requirements. If you have a layout in mind please work it out first so we can adapt our solution to it. Thanks.

    @Joske920

    Sorry for off-topic interjection:

    Although there is no official rule regarding this behaviour, we request that wherever possible both the question AND the answer be provided in substantive detail here within the thread. An attached workbook is an excellent aid for posing a question and offering a solution, but solely doing that with no in thread explanation makes it difficult for researchers to understand or consider the Q & A of this thread without downloading what may be a pointless doc to them, if they can do that at all. Doing that also hides the content from search engines so others may never benefit from this.

    @AliGW

    As I read the requirement and review the given sample I see that there is no code and therefor made the whole thing
    if you want me to post a whole detailed rapport of my actions instead them downloading the workbook and looking for them self's I am going to have more work doing that instead of helping people.

    Because the answer would have to include pictures and all kinds of extra text to make sense. Look at the workbook and it all makes sense.

    I put hours into these things of my free time because I want to try help these people if I can.

    This threat was not being answered in 3 days so I tried to help out. I noticed that questions that ask to make something from scratch are not answered like code questions. Because most don't have the time (understandable) or want to be payed to do that sort of thing, and so the threat remains open and unanswered.

    If the code is not to big I post it, if the solution involves adding sheets and other things I include a workbook.

    I am sorry if this comes over as rude. I just want to help.
    If people don't want to download a solution, do they want one?

    Re: Using Values Input from Barcode # Scanner to Adjust a Basic Inventory Master List?

    Please have a good look at the way that more experienced members of the forum, including myself, answer questions. There is nothing wrong with posting a workbook, however it should be accompanied by some explanation of the solution offered within it. This is because (a) some forum members may not be able to download attachments at all and (b) nobody should have to open a workbook to find out what the solution is.

    In other words, you need to make your solution accessible to all.

    I hope this explains the reasons for the request: you would do well to follow the advice.

    Thanks for your help here.
