Input 1 of 2 types of data to perform VLOOKUP

    Hi,
I would like to ask for some help with a formula for a costing sheet I am creating.

    I have 2 data strings available (Sheet 2, columns C & D).

I would like the foruma to accept either data data string to be entered into Sheet 1, columns C & D to display the last price paid on sheet 2, column E.

    Can anyone help please?

    Hi,

Will there be several values for the Part or MPN numbers and if so is sheet 2 sorted by either of those.
You ask for the last price paid. If there are seveal values for each part/mpn no. and since there's no dates associated with this system do you mean the last item listed

This is clearly a much simplified example and doesn't represent the size or order of your actual data. We often find that when we give an answer to what is a trivial non representative example when the solution is used with the real world data it doesn't work because of factors like string length and other stuff which is important but hasn't been mentioned.

Therefore upload your real workbook (or at least a cut down copy), and manually add the results you expect to see. Clearly identify which is original data and which are the results and in a note clearly explain how you have arrived at your results.

    Hi,
    Yes, approx 13,000 unique references on Sheet 2 , columns C & D. Column E

I have re-uploaded the workbook with the results I would like to see on Sheet 1.
