Count Specific to Person If Value True

Hi all,

As per the attached, i need a count in column R which is relevant to the person in column E of whether there is data in column H.

Column H is irreverent in that as long as it correlated to a person in column E then it needs the count in column R.

Sorry Ali, i just meant it in terms of it doesn't matter what is in the cell, as long as there is something in there to produce the count by person for column R.

why is R2 1 and not 2? my solution was =COUNTIF($E$2:$E$5,E2) but you must be asking something different

=COUNTIF($E$2:$E2,E2) perhaps

Because person A has only shown up once at that point, yet by R4, has shown up twice. Does that make it clearer?
