Solving Many to Many relationships - Merging Data vs Bridge Tables

I have two tables of data that have a Many to Many relationship. I have read about two solutions... Bridge Tables and Merging Queries.

Does anyone know the pros / cons of solving Many to Many relationships using a Bridge Table vs just Merging Queries in Power Query?

Using Bridge tables seems to be the way most suggest online. I struggled w/ this in my data set but was ultimately able to make it work using a tutorial on Powerpivotpro.com

But I also saw a guy at a site below suggest using the Power Query "Merge Queries" and avoid table relationships all together.

This second solution seems like it wouldn't work as on certain data sets and also might be harder to do w/ larger data sets.

Outside of those differences, does anyone have experience using one method over the other?

I appreciate any thoughts on this.
