How to display currency in a drop down box?

I created a drop down box by using data validation and creating a list.

My list has numbers 1000000, 2000000,3000000,4000000,5000000, etc., and I formatted the cell to show currency so when you select the value it shows as $1,000,000, etc.

Is there a way to change the formatting of the number in the actual drop down list?

The source list is formatted as currency but it doesn't matter. I tried to make it text like this "$1,000,000","$2,000,000" but even with the quotation marks it uses the commas to separate the values.

It's hard to look at a long list of 6 digit plus numbers and select from a list when the numbers have no separating punctuation.

I hope somebody knows a way or that its even possible.

crashycdn, Data validation dropbox doesn't work with format. You have to use TEXT value for data validation and VLOOKUP for result.
