# Splitt number in a cell into 2 different cells when it exceeds a particular number

1. ## Splitt number in a cell into 2 different cells when it exceeds a particular number

I want to know if its possible to split a cell value into 2 other values when it exceeds a particular number.

Example : When Cell A1= 6 than -----> Cell A2: 6 Cell A3:0 because Cell A1 doesn't exceed the number 6

When Cell A1=8 than ------> Cell A2: 6 Cell A3: 2 because Cell A1 is exceeded by 2 in want 2 to be in cell A3 and 6 to be in A2

is there a formula or something like that to create the example above ?

2. ## Re: Splitt number in a cell into 2 different cells when it exceeds a particular number

how do you define the number
lets say its in B1 you have the defined number ie 6 or 8
Then IN
A2 = =IF(A1>=\$B1,\$B1,\$A1)
A3 = =IF(A1<=B1,0,A1-B1)
