Experiencing unsual copy and paste problems

    Hello everyone,

First of all, I have to acknowledge what a tremendous help this web site has been for the development of my Excel projet and for my overall understanding of this amazing program. I'm no expert, but I have gained valuable knowledge on this forum and it has helped me in so many ways. In short, I really appreciate the help I have received here.

Here is the problem I am presently trying to solve. I have used the copy and paste so many times without ever incountering any problems. Now, when I do use the copy and paste to copy a formula in adjacent cells, it won't work. The formula in the copied cells are OK, but Excel will not perform the formula unless I place the cursor in each copied cell and press ENTER. And if I change the variables in my equation, it won't automatically change the new answer. I'm thinking that my program may be too big.

Here's an example to simplify things.

Cell A1 is equal to value 1
Cell B1 is equal to value 2
Cell C1 is equal to =(A1+B1) which gives me the result of 3

If I copy and paste the formula of C1 to C2, C3, C4, and so on, these cells won't show the results of =(A2+B2) or =(A3+B3) as it usually does. The right formula is in the cell, but if I want the result of the formula to appear, I have to select each cell individually and press ENTER.

Is this a problem related to my worksheet that may be too big?
Have you encountered this problem before?
What are my alternatives to fix this problem?

Otherwise, I have used the copy and paste function many, many times before without ever having any problems whatsoever.

    Thank you for your input.

It sounds like the Calculation Mode on your sheet has somehow gotten changed to Manual. Set it back to Automatic.

    FILE > OPTIONS > CALCULATION OPTIONS > [x] Automatic
