Unlocked sheet in a locked workbook

Hi,

I have a workbook that is usually fully locked (structure, sheets & VBA) so users can't interfere with the structure or the data and can't see formulas in the file. Now, I would like to add a new tab that would be unlocked and is a blank page so users can use it to "build on" what's already provided by the spreadsheet and sort of customize the information to their needs.

My question: is there any risks that I'm missing of providing a fully unlocked sheet in a workbook that is normally fully protected? (i.e. can they use this sheet to try to hack the VBA, workbook, etc or does it make no difference?). Just trying to avoid compromising my whole spreadsheet just to provide some customization solution to users.

Thanks

.
Keep in mind that EXCEL is notoriously known for a lack of security.

If your users have any reasonable level of knowledge concerning Excel and how to navigate it's security settings, they will be able
to circumvent your security measures.

On the other hand, the average individual has no knowledge of what "goes on behind the scenes with Excel" so you should be ok in
most situations.

Agreed. I know that my spreadsheets can easily be "hacked" by anyone willing to but as you said most people just dont know or care.

My question is more: am I facilitating the hack in any way by having an unlocked sheet provided in a locked workbook (agreeing that it could be hacked anyway if you really want to)?

Thanks

If your file is locked (PW protected) but you have left places for them to enter data, then adding an extra sheet will not make the risk any greater
1. Use code tags for VBA.
Your Code
(or use the # button)
