    Return results based on selections

    Hi,

I am trying to return results based on a user's selection (maybe a tickbox selection). I have attached a sample file.

I want to be able to filter a list of content from my inventory.

    1. If I only have box 1, then only return contents results where box 1 appears (lines 2-4)
    2. If I only have box 2, then only return contents results where box 2 appears (lines 5-7)
    3. If I have both boxes, then return all results

I tried doing this with pivot and slicers but I couldn't get option 3 to work properly.

What is the best way of doing this please?

    Thanks!

    With a pivot table.

you can select the columnlable for the criteria (1 , 2, 1 and 2)
Notice my main language is not English.

I appreciate it, if you reply on my solution.

Re: Return results based on selections

    Hi,

Thanks for the reply, I am not sure if this will do what I need. Apologies if my post wasn't clear.

What I am looking for is that someone can open the file, tick the boxes they own (via the tickboxes(or some other method)). The content list will update accordingly.
I tried with slicers before, which is good, but if I had a slicer for column b and c, and both were selected, then I would only see results on lines 8-11 (as they combine the contents of both boxes). Instead, this should return all results.

    Thanks,

If you don't use the slicer you can do it like I showed.

Just tick in the columnlable on the expected criteria.

The advantice of a pivot table is you only have to refresh the data.=> data => refresh => refresh

With your spreadsheet, if I select Box 1 from the dropdown in your pivot table (column H), it shows content 10 for instance. This should be invalid as I would need both box 1 and box 2 for content 10.

    Regards,

The reason is the data was not in the table (column A and B).

See the attached file (the green cells) for the adjustment and the result.
