Filter Date Column by Day of Week

Hi

I have a column of dates, and have them set at Long Date Format so as I can see the day of week. Is there any way to filter the column to only show Fridays in that column? This may be simple, I tried to filter by using the Cell Contains 'Friday' for example, but didnt work

Create an extra column: =WEEKDAY(A1)

Then filter on that.

Thank you, I tried this but it returned the Number 4?

Then we would assume that the date in cell A1 is a Wednesday, the 4th day of the week.
If you'll fill the new column with Ali's formula, you should see that Sundays correspond to a value of 1 and Saturdays correspond to a value of 7.
That means that Fridays correspond to 6, so that you may filter by the new column to only show the 6's, then column A will display only dates of Fridays.
