Is there a function which calculates how many units you need to sell to meet revenue target?

eg. want revenue of 10,000 sold so many at £x and so many at £y = how many.

Or was it goal seek and I dreamt the rest.

Goal Seek could be one tool for such a problem. I find that most problems like this start out as algebra problems (think of those "distance=rate*time" type problems). Once you solve the algebra problem, then the programming problem is usually straightforward.

Could be.

What you describe in the OP looks to me like a 10000=x*a+y*b, then solve for a and/or b. You can either add a constraint to control what values can be valid for a and b, or choose a value for one, then solve for the other, or whatever your problem requires.
