Linking documents on a network drive

I'm linking documents in my spreadsheet on a drive I have mapped as Z:\

My question is, will others who may or may not have mapped the drive on their devices be able to pull up the document upon clicking the link?

If not, how do I get excel go generate the proper path in that cell?

Nevermind. I was able to check with a co-worker who came in. It worked on her laptop, and I doubt we have the same drive letters mapped for the drive.

If you are using absolute paths like "z:\" then the mapping will have to be the same for them to be able to refresh the data (the file will show the last data when saved if the link is broken by them not having the same mapping).

Assuming you are talking about a normal corporate type environment you can use the full path in the form of "\\server\directory\subdirectory" which will get around the mapping issue but the other user will still need read permission on the path/file.
