    Install multiple versions of excel?

    Hi,

I'm using the latest version of excel via my 365 subscription but I would like to test my spreadsheets with older versions of excel (2007 and up) so I have three questions:

    1. Is there a risk having multiple versions of excel installed on the same computer?
    2. If so, is there a way to install the old version in a sandbox? Or even emulate another windows and install the old version in it?
    3. Where can i find / download older excel versions?

    Thanks a lot,
    Magnus

    Hi Magnus,

Excel has a feature that will check compatability for you. Read about it at:

    Hi Marvin,

Thanks for the answer. Yes, I've been using the functionality but it seems like some users still have compatibility issues that are not being identified by the compatibility checker. That's why I'm trying to recreate the same user experience by installing old excel versions myself.

    Thanks

AFAIK you cannot install Office 365 and Office 2007 on the same computer; you could install Office 2019 and Office 2007 on the same computer, however. The reason for that has to do with the differences in the way Office 365 and Office 2019 are licensed (i.e. Click-to-Run vs Single-Install).

I have 32 bit Office 2010 and 32 bit Office 365 on the same computer (Windows 8.1) with no problems.

Re: Install multiple versions of excel?

You could, but there are some issues with installing multiple versions of Excel.

Especially when using 32 bit install along with 64 bit install.

My personal preference is to create VM and install different version there for testing purpose.

EDIT: Here's MS article on the subject.
