Condtional formatting: how to compare two columns if they are same or different.

I am having a hard time trying to setup conditional formatting. How do I setup.... if all the cells in column A = B then color green. If there are differences then only color the cells red. I am ok having the color only show up in column B.

I dont want to apply this rule on a cell by cell basis (I have tons of rows). Can I apply this rule on all the cells in one shot?

    A B
    ----------
    1 1
    1 2

Just select the data in col B & use this formula
    For green
    =A2=B2
    For red
    =A2<>B2

The row numbers should match the first row in the applies to range.

Doesnt seem to be working... do you mind trying doing it on my sample file? This way I can see how you did it.

    thank you very much.

you can also do this without conditional formatting.
select these 2 columns, press CTRL + \, it will highlight those different cells.

If you supply a file with your attempt at the CF I will happily look at it & see where you have gone wrong.
