Only allowing someone to sign off on an excel checklist if everything has been answered?

    Hi

I am creating a checklist that is in excel and our staff has to tick off every box.

At the end of the checklist, they have to sign off with there initials and a date.

Is there a way in Excel to have some kind of error message pop up or prevent someone from entering info into a box if it hasn't they haven't answered every previous question?

I was thinking this should be in the data validation area, but I cant find it.

    Any help will be appreciated.

    Thanks!

Hello ExcelAccountant123 and Welcome to Excel Forum.
As I do not see an answer on the Mr.Excel site I'll propose one here.
    1. Use the following custom data validation for cell G21: =COUNTIFS(F6:F18,"Question*",G6:G18,"?*")=7
    2. Use the following custom data validation for cell G22: =G21<>""
Note that Input Messages and Error Alerts, which may be changed to suit, have also been modeled for both cells.
Let us know if you have any questions.

Re: Only allowing someone to sign off on an excel checklist if everything has been answere

It occurs to me that the first formula will not be specific to the answers "Yes" and "No".
For the formula to the data validation for cell G21 try the following instead: =SUM(COUNTIFS(F6:F18,"Question*",G6:G18,"Yes"),COUNTIFS(F6:F18,"Question*",G6:G18,"No"))=7
Let us know if you have any questions.
