Understanding Excel Power Query Basics - Table vs Data Set

I have been tasked with showing end of month inventory numbers for multiple shops for the past twelve months. The best historical record I know of is a weekly report we put out. Each new week is a saved copy of the previous week with the updated data dump. Ideally, I'd like to include the Year subfolders to encompass the past five years worth of data.

Is this possible, or will I need to create one query per folder?

The Data dumps are used to populate a pivot table, and the data dump tab shares the same name across all of the historical sheets. However, all of these data dumps are not in a table format.

Will this cause the query to fail?

Is it possible to instead use Access for this project?

Each of the five subfolders need a base combine & load query (to connection only), then you can append or merge these as required.

AliGW - One file was using a different data dump, which changed to order of the columns. Once this was corrected, the query ran correctly. I'll have to experiment with a personal project to try your method. Thank you for your response.

alansidman - You must be replying to the wrong post, because this is not relevant to this issue.

The order of the columns will not matter as long as the column headers match - PQ will match them up.

I'll keep an eye out for this when I try replicating the issue just to try your solution.

Just to be clear - a slight difference in column header - e.g. a trailing space - would trigger an error.

If that takes care of your original question, please select Thread Tools from the menu link above and mark this thread as SOLVED.
