    Simple Pivot table problem

    Hi,

Please could someone help with the following.

Say 3 respondents took an exam and the scores and data are recorded as below.

    Score Gender Region Age
    5 Male South >40
    6 Female North >40
    7 Male East <40

I would like to be able to identify, in a single pivot table, the average scores splits by Gender, Region and Age (INDEPENDENTLY) in a pivot table.

I have tried to produce this in a Pivot table but am only able to produce the output in the attached "PIVOT A". I would like to produce something like "PIVOT B".

Does anyone know how to do this?

    Much appreciated

    Re: Simple Pivot table problem

    Hi,

I have attached a file to support this exercise with the 'Current' (what I am able to produce) vs the 'Desired' (what I would like to produce via a pivot).

    Thank you

    Re: Simple Pivot table problem

I feel that this is less that optimal, however it is all I can think of.
Three pivot tables that are arranged horizontally.
Note that I left a space between Region and Age to allow for West, when/if there is a score from that region.
Sorry not to be of more help.

    Re: Simple Pivot table problem

    Hi Jete,

Thank you for the response. That is a good workaround. I just wonder if anyone has a solution within a single pivot table / alternative solution?

    Thank you
