    Graphs for counting blood transfusions

I'm a new user, and have a workbook with a spreadsheet looking at blood transfusions. One column (L2-L90) lists the time of day the component was collected from the lab (as a simple 24 hr time).
How do i create a bar chart that has hours of the day on the x axis (00:00 - 01:00 as the first point, 01:00 - 02:00 as the second etc) and on the y axis the amount of components collected in that hour?
any help appreciated, or links to a newb guide (i don't really know where to begin searching)

    Many thanks

    Re: Help with graphs....

Charts don't do any analysis (like counting), so the first step is to analyze the data. A pivot table is probably easiest (add a column for "hour of day", then use a pivot table to count how many entries are in each hour) https://www.excel-easy.com/data-****...ot-tables.html Then create your bar chart from the pivot table.

Re: Graphs for counting blood transfusions

Thank you, i have now made my first pivot table! and a graph from it!

Now, it isn't quite what i wanted. There are some hours in the day where there are no transfusions, so those hours are missing from the table. How can i get those to show? i need the final chart to list every hour of the day, even if no transfusion was done.

    Many thanks

I'm not enough of an expert in pivot tables to answer for you. Do you have a small sample file (anonymized data, if needed) that you can upload so we can see what you have done to this point?

    Hi ElysianKnightPrime,

As MrShorty said, it would help us if you could provide a sample sheet, but in the meantime, could this be what you want.

hopefully attached. I didn't create the original database, so am cleaning it up as i try to figure things out. As can be seen, i have have made a pivot table, and can make my bar chart from it, but it is missing the zero transfusion hours, and the table needs to show clearly the spread across 24 hours.
Many thanks to any who take the time to help....
