Hi,
I have a problem whereby users can still edit locked cells when the worksheet is locked. This only happens when I use the "Allow Users to Edit Ranges" option but there are no spurious ranges to clear out so that isn't a fix.
Here's how I test; start with a shiny new spreadsheet. Select all and make sure all the cell properties are locked. Select a few cells and unlock them. Protect the worksheet and test. Everything works as expected. The cells I unlocked can be edited, the others cannot.
Now; with the same spreadsheet unlocked again, I reapply the locked property to the few cells I initially unlocked, I then go to "Allow Users to Edit Ranges", select the few cells I was working with as the Range and then Permissions. In the Permissions section, I add a user - someone else (via Active Directory) not me (just the easiest way to test by myself), set them as Allow in the permissions and save my way out. I protect the worksheet.
So now, only the user I selected should be able to change the cells. I should not be able to. In fact though I can edit any cells in that range but I cannot edit any of the other cells outside of that range. So what has happened is that setting a single user allowed to edit those cells has in fact enabled everyone to edit those cells.
Surely this is very wrong. It does not achieve what the function "Allow Users to Edit Ranges" is supposed to i.e. you should be able to set individual users to edit individual ranges. I've done it before, so I know how this should work.
Either I'm going crazy or there is a bug. Remember this is a clean brand new spreadsheet, no code or anything else funky going on.
Any help would really be appreciated. I'm going round in circles here.
Thanks,
Tow
