Changing name of auto numbered headers in table

I have a table similar to the one attached. I am trying to change all of the dates to simply say "date," rather than a numbered variation. The biggest key is that the formatting for the non-date columns in the table to remain unchanged. Anyone know how to do this?

not quite sure what you are trying.
do you want all the 'date' headers just to be 'date' if so you cannot each column header has to be unique.
or do you just want to put the word "date" in all the cell of all the date columns.

The goal is for the columns that say "date1," "date2," etc. to simply say "date". The actual identity of the cells can remain unique, but I want them to all be displayed as the same name. The solution I just came up with was highlighting the numbers and changing their color to white to match the background and hide them, which seems to work, but I'm curious now if there's a more elegant solution to the problem.
