    Refresh All Error

I have a macro workbook with Pivot tables and Power Queries (circa 25).

When I do a Refresh All I get an Excel error saying that it can't get data as a particular file cannot be found.

I have refreshed each PQ in turn (excluding connection only ones) and the error does not occur.

I feel that somewhere in eth workbook there must be mention of eth file but where?

How do I find what is causing the error?

    Thank You

    Re: Refresh All Error

Can you give any more details about the scenario under which the air occurs? I'm not a power query expert however, you said that the air does not occur after you refresh all of the power queries regardless of connection status one by one. So that tells you something right there. When you push the refresh all button, perhaps you have an unused connection that you established in the past that is sending the power query logs but you overrode it with a new connection from an external source? I've worked with power query enough in my lifetime to know that you can query new data sets all the time and the old ones just become historical data and are sitting in the logs in that interface which you can refer to any point in the future if you want to but do not establish connections by default as the newest one that you initiated. I'm just giving you ideas as to how to solve the problem

    Re: Refresh All Error

I don't know what other o info I could tell you about when it happens.
The Idea of historic / old or perhaps deleted queries is possible.
How does one resolve this safely?

    Thank You

    Re: Refresh All Error

Well I don't know the inner workings of power query but I would assume that if you delete a stored query that you use previously obviously that will disappear from the interface and the memory is probably not stored in Excel after you delete it from the interface but then again it very well could be until you terminate the application completely. That only makes perfect sense. but then again it absolutely does not make perfect sense that deleting a stored query in the interface log would cause an air like this because whoever wrote the Excel application wouldn't allow that to happen if they had any competence at all period and Microsoft people obviously are very competent. even the lower caliber people they put in charge of production of office products lol.

I or someone else here might be able to give a little more insight into the issue if you can replicate the air via a video file and upload it to a cloud server somewhere. If you have Windows 10 you can simply use the game bar to record your movements on the screen kind of like the software out in California that's being introduced right now called full story. So if you do have win 10, press the Windows key plus g on your keyboard and that will bring up the game bar and then you should see the record button and that's pretty much all there is to it and when you stop the recording it produces an mp4 file that you can upload appropriately. But if you do go that route don't make it longer than 5 minutes because it'll take forever to upload to the cloud even if your hardwired in your machine.
