How to re-size 2D Surface chart? (options are greyed out)

Hello,

I would like to know how to specify the size (LxW) of a 2D surface chart (created first as a 3D then "flattened" to a 2D chart) that is located on its own sheet.

If I try to edit the size via the Format Chart Area dialog, the ability to resize/manually assign values is essentially greyed out.

I should add that the reason I want to resize the chart is because I want the vertical and horizontal tick marks to be scaled identically (so each data point is the same height and width when viewing the chart). ie. if the chart has 100 vertical ticks and 200 horizontal ticks, the size of the chart needs to be at the fixed proportion of 1:2 eg. height = 20cm, width = 40cm

What happens if you set up the dimensions whilst the chart is an object on a worksheet and then move it to a chart sheet?

You have little control over the charts dimensions, although you can adjust the plot area size. You can either use the mouse or code to do that.

What is the reason for flattened 3d rather than just 2d?

you can use a single liner in immediate window of VBE.
