Formula to count unique data from two columns

I have attached call log data and what I am needing to do is figure out how many different unique days there were calls in each Month.

Column A has the dates of the calls
Column B is the month of those calls

Can anyone help in getting a formula that will determine the unique amount of days calls were taken each month by the dates of the calls logged.

    Thank you,
    Jason

Will you please attach a sample Excel workbook? We are not able to work with or manipulate a picture of one and nobody wants to have to recreate your data from scratch.

    1. Make sure that your sample data are REPRESENTATIVE of your real data. The use of unrepresentative data is very frustrating and can lead to long delays in reaching a solution.

    2. Make sure that your desired results are also shown (mock up the results manually).

    3. Make sure that all confidential data is removed or replaced with dummy data first (e.g. names, addresses, E-mails, etc.).

    4. Try to avoid using merged cells as they cause lots of problems.

Unfortunately the attachment icon doesn't work at the moment, so to attach an Excel file you have to do the following: just before posting, scroll down to Go Advanced and then scroll down to Manage Attachments. Now follow the instructions at the top of that screen.

Please pay particular attention to point 2 (above): without an idea of your intended outcomes, it is often very difficult to offer appropriate advice.

Assum dare range is in A2:A1000
    This counts for "Sep-20"

**Array formulas are not entered in the same way as 'standard' formulas. Instead of pressing just ENTER, you first hold down CTRL and SHIFT, and only then press ENTER. If you've done it correctly, you'll notice Excel puts curly brackets {} around the formula (though do not attempt to manually insert these yourself).

Change "Sep-20" to any month you want, just keep same format "mmm-yy"

Re: Formula to count unique data from two columns

    A slightly different approach to bebo021999 so I'll post . . .

    I didn't use your col-B

Col-C has one row per month - these are real dates formatted to only display the month

    In D2 copied down:
    Formula: copy to clipboard

This is your count of unique call days per month. Compare with the col-A data to check that this is what you want.

The 50's in the above formula can be increased as necessary.

I hope one of these approaches works for you, let us know.
