To merge or not to merge

Hi guys,

See attached spreadsheet.

I'm making an order form that will eventually have cells locked unless they need editing. Row 6 has has the cells merged where as Row 14 does not.

Is there a good reason in favor of merging as I generally prefer not to? When locking will it be easier to have unmerged cells?
