How to paste a formula to a new location without it changing dynamically

I have multiple sheets. For simplicity sake page two (sheet 2) has a list of tools on it. All the other sheets reference that sheet with a simple transpose. The issue is, when I cut and past from sheet 2, the formula on the other sheets change to follow where I cut and pasted it. I need this to stop, and only reference the exact same cell regardless if I cut and paste it some where else leaving that reference cell blank.

    The formula; =TRANSPOSE(Sheet2!$B$8)

When I cut and past it farther down the same sheet, "sheet 2" it will change to look like this.

    =TRANSPOSE(Sheet2!$B$36)

I need this formula to stay on 8.

I have attached the file to this post.

any help would be greatly appreciated.

    Respectfully,
    Sean

Instead of copying and pasting in the way you are doing, you will need to copy and then paste with the cursor already in the cell.

??? In most of your sheets the TRANSPOSE range is NOT loced. One exception to this is sheet 7 where B2 has a $ locked formula. It copy pastes and cut pastes perfectly. So change your ranges to $ locked and you should be fine...

To be specific, I Cut and paste about 8 cells into a new location, of which the formula in the other sheet follows it. I am trying to stop that.

so your saying, don't cut and paste but rather copy each cell individually?

Yes, that was me on sheet 7 trying the $ for locked.

Your saying copy instead of cut and paste?

I appreciate the help very much!!

Back again. See sheet 7. It copy pastes and CUT paste just fie when everything is $ 'd. BtW... why are you usng TRANSPOSE. It does nothing.

    =Sheet2!$B$8

    does exactly the same.

Re: How to paste a formula to a new location without it changing dynamically

    Glen,

I am using transpose on the other sheets because I have set them up for a specific printer. I can go to that sheet and just hit print and it spits out a label for my tools. Of which I am changing all the time based on the job. I have hundreds of tools, and they are very easy to loose track of.

As far as the cut and paste, I am having completely different results than you. Using Sheet 7 of course. Sheet seven transpose is following wherever I cut and past sheet 2. I have made a short video but I don't think this web forum allows an upload of such a thing.

Thank you again for trying though. On a side note I was in your neck of the woods a couple of years ago. The northern coast is breathe taking!!
