Conditional Formatting Conundrum using a formula

    Hi All,
I am attaching a spreadsheet on which I want to apply a conditional format using a formula in column J.

I have on Sheet 2 all the area telephone codes for the US and I want to highlight any in Column J which in this instance don't belong to Texas. I have put in area code 202 on the Aloft Allen and this code belongs to Washington DC.

I can get the VLOOKUP formula to work in cell I1 which correctly identifies that area code 202 is DC. I have then extended that formula to an IF function to establish if DC doesn't match the state code in column F and return "Check" if it matches the criteria.

I don't seem to be able to get it to work on the conditional formatting.

    Thanks in advance

Re: Conditional Formatting Conundrum using a formula

Select J5 down to the last row & use this formula
    =VLOOKUP(J5,Sheet2!$H$2:$I$343,2,FALSE)<>$F5
