Question Moving results/output from one worksheet to another

    Hi All,
Time for dumb question number 2 unfortunately.

My friend and I have been predicting the premier league results for 3/4 years now and having time on my hands to play around with the spreadsheet (thanks Covid), I want to make it more automated and thus remove the human error aspect.
Yes it's basic but, it could do more?

As you will see in my attached example, we're at 10 of 38 game weeks and when a game week is concluded, I want the overall score summary's to automatically populate the next weeks worksheet.
Can it to automate it all - i.e. 2-1 predicted and when the 2-1 result is added it automatically recognises a perfect score and automatically add 3 points. But when the win/lose or draw is input it needs to add a point for a correct win/lose/draw over a perfect score but, not entirely sure this is possible as all I'd have to do is put the predictions in, then the results and the rest could be automated?.... for example; can it be setup so that when cells match exactly, it appends 3 points?... I [I]think[I] that can be done but gets more complicated when 2-1 is predicted and 3-1 is the result, which would be one point?
I hope I've explained that in an understandable way, hopefully the example I've attached will help?

I know it's silly and barely challenging to you guys/gals and I should be able to do it but, despite trying, it's been a fail and the sheet is very basic in it's current guise.

Many thanks in advance and apologies it isn't more interesting/challenging
    Regards,
    Alan.

Re: Moving results/output from one worksheet to another

Would suggest you go for an everything on one sheet approach to make life simpler.

Attached example which you can use as framework.

    Fixtures Sheet
Here you type in the fixtures and results/predictions. Have popped in week 1 as an example.
Note this is an Excel table - when you enter a new row of data the table will resize (i.e. type in the week number and press enter to see it resize) Also any formulas I have put in will auto fill for you.

The "Outcome" "Type" and "Points" columns contain formulas so nothing to enter here. The rest does need filling in with your data.

    Summary
Shows results by week. The Total columns are the points and Perfects/Corrects are counts of perfect/correct scores that week.
Don't know how many weeks there are in total so you will need to type in each week number, the other columns will auto populate.
Once all weeks entered click on any cell on the table and then choose 'Table Design' Check the 'Total Row' to add a total to the bottom of the table. Then click on each blank cell and from the drop down choose the correct option.
    You will want Sum/Count/Count/Sum/Count/Count.

    Edit:

From this point you can then create a sheet to replicate your weekly ones. Would only need to have one though and use a pivot table which will show you what you want, with a filter to view specific weeks.

    Hi Harribone,

Many thanks for taking the time and effort to reply with the help you have. This is a bit new to me so will have to get my head around it and see if the display can be simplified.

I will come back when I've played with it, if you see what I mean.
    Regards,
    Alan.

    Hi again,
OK so I'm not getting what I need from this so will go and see how I can get the score cells to automatically jump from one week to the next.
    Thanks again.

Re: Moving results/output from one worksheet to another

In terms of getting the score from last week onto this week try the below:

    Basic approach:
    1. Click on Cell F47 (Lasts Weeks Totals 'Game' left hand cell)
    2. Type "=" then click on the previous week sheet.
    3. click on F55 then hit Enter.

This will create a formula linking to pull the total from last weeks sheet. Repeat for each total you want to pull through.

    OR

If you are making a copy of the latest week for next week (i.e. copy Week 10 sheet and use as template for Week 11) then:
    1. In L1 type in "10" - assuming you are on the Week 10 sheet.
    2. In F47 copy and paste this =INDIRECT("'Week "&L1-1&"'!F55")
    3. Repeat step 2 for each of last week total cells. Change F55 to the correct cell (F55,F57,F59,H55,H57,H59)

When you copy the sheet for the following week you just change the week number that is in L1 and the totals will pull through from the previous week.

The original solution I proposed was purely to condense everything down and reduce the amount of effort required by you (just add in the fixtures for the season).
Happy to go through anything in more detail for any solutions offered up so you can make sure you get to a position where you are comfortable with what you are doing.
