Link Microsoft Forms to Excel desktop

Hi. I would like to create a Microsoft Forms and save the response in Excel for other action in which I will write some VBA to handle the data collected from Microsoft Forms. I know that it is possible to link Microsoft Forms to Excel online where new response will be saved to the Excel workbook automatically. However, the Excel online does not run VBA and so I cannot use Excel online in this case. I also know that there is another option where I can download the response and work on the response in my Excel desktop but this method would require me to download a workbook every time a new response is submitted. I do not want to work on the data after all response is submitted, I would like to work on the submitted response while waiting for the new response. So, I wonder if there is any method that can kind of sync the Microsoft Forms with Excel desktop or some more efficient way to save new response to Excel desktop without needing me to check it frequently?

    Thank you.

    Welcome to the forum.

Your Office version is 365 (days in the year), not 360 (degrees in a circle) - please update your profile.

As you have Office 365, you can set up a query to pull the data from the data collection file into a file where you do the processing. See the links in my signature line about PowerQuery.

Thank you for your reply. Based on what you suggested, I will need to constantly check for new form response, right?

Not if you set the query to pull data from the source file whenever the analysis workbook is opened.

Please update your forum profile as I requested. Thanks.

I have already updated my profile, thank you for your reminder.

I try to conclude the entire idea, please correct me if I am wrong. Basically, what I am supposed to do is create a form using Microsoft Forms. Then I save the response to a workbook in Excel online and set the query to pull data from the online workbook to a workbook in Excel desktop. By doing that, I will be able to see new response every time I open the workbook in Excel desktop. Is that correct?

Yes - this is what I am suggesting. You'll need to look at the various options for getting the data under Get & Transform (Data tab) - one of the online options should allow you to set up the link.

By the way, your profile still said Office 360 when I posted my last message - thanks for changing it.
