    Excel automatically converts the percentage value in List to number

    Hi All,

    Please help me on this below issue.

    I have list using Data Validation. List has some percentage values.

    Excel automatically converts the percentage to number whenever i select the percentage value from List.

    Even though you have given a set of percentages to drop down, the applied cell format is in General. Convert that to Percentage.

    If you have a cell than can contain a number and text how wold excel know what format to apply?

    you can have the validation list all formatted as text, then it doesn't matter

    or

    apply a conditional format so that if the value is 1 or less it is %, but otherwise number the default
