Question Excel slow after first install

    Hello,

I recently installed excel on my computer for a College class I'm taking. I am running Windows 10 with 16 gig RAM, and AMD Ryzen 5 3.85GHz processor. But excel is taking forever to open or do anything. I haven't even made a single entry yet because it lags so much. Other programs run smoothly when excel lags. In fact I writing this right now as I wait for excel to boot. I've checked for and installed updates, reset my machine. Also ran CCleaner and an Antivirus scan to be sure. Does anyone have any suggestions?

EDIT: Issue was caused by conflict with existing program. I found the right one by going to task manager and stopping programs one at a time until I found the right one. Hopefully this will help someone in the future.

Hello Atrus92 and Welcome to Excel Forum.
I don't know much about the hardware side, however I imagine that your computer may have both an SSD and an HDD drive. Is the Excel program on the SSD drive? If not that may be the problem.
Other than that I suggest letting the "tech" people at your college take a look and/or perhaps, if the computer has tech support, let the company do a remote diagnostic for you.
Best of luck, sorry not to be more helpful.

Re: Excel slow after first install

I actually just figured it out. It turns out one of the other programs i had installed on my machine was conflicting with excel. I figured this out by going into task manager and stopping programs one at a time until i found the right one. Thank you for you suggestion.
