Pivot table date filter not working

I have a table of with yards placed to different locations by date. I created a pivot table and now want to use the date filter to get total yards by location betwen the selcted dates. When I use any date filter I get zero results. The dates in the pivot table are right justified which I think means that Excel is not recognizing them as dates (hence no results?) but they are seen as dates in the table (I can sort oldest to youngest which implies Excel sees them as dates).

Why isnt the pivot table allowing me to use the date filter to calculate total yards by location between any two dates.

If pivot tables arent working for this seemingly simple task, what is another approach? Would an index and match be easier? I have Excel 2016

thanks for any thoughts and suggestions

Summarized using Sumproduct function, please have a look, change the dates and see the changes.

Thank you so much Shareez for your help.

I see you used a different approach with sumproduct, does this mean that a Pivot Table would not work? Seems like it should work but I cant get Excel to recognize the dates as dates, very frustrating. I dont know why the Pivot Table doesnt work but thank you for this great alternative approach.

Re: Pivot table date filter not working

I may be misunderstanding what "want to use the date filter to get total yards by location betwen the selcted dates" means.
However when I select the filter/sort button in cell B4 (Date) on the 2018_2019 Pivot_Table sheet and then select Date Filters > Between > is between 12/31/2018 and 6/1/2019 (with Whole Days checked) the pivot table seems to work correctly.
