Hi,
Apologies if this has already been posted and answered, I'm not sure enough of my own question to do a proper search, so bear with me
I'm hoping someone can steer me in the right direction of a formula that creates a sequence number based on a given criteria.
For example, I have a sheet which contains people's names, dates they submitted something, and the outcome of their submission (agreed/not agreed etc).
What I'm looking for is something that counts what number submission that is for each person. In the example below, I would want the column after agreed/not agreed/part agreed to show that John's submission on 12/01 was his first, the one on 13/01 was his second, the one on the 14th was his third etc e.g.
John 12/01/2020 agreed
Sally 12/01/2020 agreed
Sally 12/01/2020 not agreed
John 13/01/2020 agreed
Tom 13/01/2020 partially agreed
John 14/01/2020 agreed
The final aim is to be able to count the number of times a 1st submission is agreed, not agreed, or partially agreed, and the same for second/ third etc. I'm comfortable with how to do the last bit, jut not how to get the sequence number on there in the first place.
I know it may be asking a lot, but it would need to be applicable both retrospectively (i.e. I can past it in to existing data and it will create the count) and to work ongoing in to the future (in this example above, pasting the formula would show John's of 14/01 as 3, then the next entry would be 4).
Any help would be massively appreciated.
Thanks
Steve
